M. Micallef Azure Crystal Man

A wonderful unisex fragrance for Spring and Summer :)

There is another fragrance that accompanies this one “Azure Crystal Woman”. These fragrances were designed exclusively for Osswald, a luxury perfume, and skin care shop in New York. The inspiration behind this beauty was a tale of a couple coming back to a luxurious hotel after a day at the beach. While preparing for a romantic/elegant dinner; with skin warm from the sun, and scented from the ocean/beach. Now I know this is the men’s version but ladies, this one is totally unisex.

Top Notes: This has to be one of the best openings I have smelled in a long time. It is very sweet, clean and fresh with the lemon, neroli and pink berries. I don’t get much bergamot in this one, but it is listed. I know I said this is unisex but I must forewarn my ladies… the opening can scare some aware and make you feel like this is a scrubber because of the cologne feel… but wait… it turns magical within the first 20-30 mins.

Heart Notes: Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, this fragrance pulls a turn from fresh and clean to a warmer zone. The opulence of this fragrance really starts to come through. The jasmine and tonka bean are sweet and cozy, while the cinnamon gives just the right spice/edge. If you have ever walked into a high-end cologne department back in early 2000 and remember the smell that hit your nose… that’s what this reminds me of.  The cologne feel is in the background but starts to fade within the next 30 minutes-1 hour….

Base Notes: A very clean musk (not animalic), with cozy amber and vanilla, just a touch of cedar, and last but not least… cashmeran to add to the woody/powdery opulence of this fragrance.

Projection/Sillage: This has a very minimal to moderate projection. Once it dries down you get 1-2 feet max. Don’t expect major scent trails with this one. Perfect for an intimate evening where you are looking for a scent that beckons your lover to come in closer for a better whiff.

Longevity: This is not where this fragrance shines. In the cold weather, this fades away as fast as it appears. In the warmer weather you can get approx 5 hours. I usually carry a decant around to freshen up, frequently.

Overall: If you are looking for a luxurious scent that can be worn anytime/anywhere, look no further. This is a unisex fragrance for sure. As I previously mentioned the opening may be hard for some women, but if you can push through to the dry-down you will be rewarded. Fellas, this is an excellent one to add to your collection. I really like the fact that there aren’t too many people wearing this scent.  I can’t wait for warmer days to wear this beauty. Because this dries down close to the skin it makes for an excellent office scent, or date night fragrance. It is very versatile and can be used for any occasion.
